Diversity Celebration #4 – recruitment interviews, neurodiversity and wellbeing
On 12 March 2026, the fourth meeting of the Diversity Celebration series took place as part of the Ro(o)tation project, bringing together both long-standing participants and those who joined more recently. The event marked another step in building a local employment community based on cooperation, understanding and mutual support.
The main theme of the meeting was professional job interviews – preparation, common mistakes and neurodiversity in recruitment. The workshop was led by Kinga Krzemińska-Puzio (career advisor) and Renata Kierdelewicz (psychotherapist), combining a labour market perspective with an approach focused on participants’ wellbeing.
During the session, participants worked on practical aspects of interview preparation – from analysing job offers and structuring consistent answers, to using concrete examples of experience (including the STAR method), as well as learning how to ask meaningful questions to employers. Particular attention was given to how to speak about employment gaps in a calm and professional way and how to handle difficult interview questions.
An important element of the workshop was also understanding the recruitment process from the employer’s perspective – participants learned what recruiters pay attention to, which evaluation criteria are used and what common mistakes may influence candidate assessment. Neurodiversity was another key topic – including challenges faced by neurodivergent candidates and ways to communicate individual needs in a professional and empowering manner.
The outcome of the meeting was not only increased knowledge, but also strengthened confidence and readiness to return to the labour market. Participants gained practical tools they can directly apply in recruitment processes and developed a better understanding of employer expectations.
A key part of the workshop was also supporting participants’ mental wellbeing. They were introduced to simple and effective stress regulation techniques – including breathing exercises, grounding methods and practical strategies for managing tension before and during job interviews. We emphasised that preparing for an interview is not only about knowledge and skills, but also about taking care of oneself, one’s energy and inner balance.
The Diversity Celebration series demonstrates that building an inclusive labour market begins with real dialogue, practical tools and empowering people – both in terms of competencies and wellbeing.
